After a couple year hiatus from Ironsworn, I recently purchased the physical books for both the core rules and the Delve expansion. I really liked what I saw in Delve, and as is often the case with me, seeing new rules got me in the mood to tinker and create. Thus, the flavor packs were born.
Each flavor pack is a set of 40 cards designed to tweak the setting of Ironsworn just a bit by using the mythologies of around world with the goal of appreciating all the cultures of the world and to celebrate what diversity brings to the gaming hobby. Each flavor pack contains 20 new NPCs/foes, 10 cards that reflavor the world and regions, and 10 additional cards of paths, companions, rituals, or combat talents.
I started off by making new foes to battle from several different mythologies and was fascinated by how different they were from the standards western Europe mythos. In fact, one of the first flavor packs I worked on was from the Norse mythology, and I realized it felt a lot like vanilla Ironsworn. But when I moved on to mythologies from Japan and South America, I found a strikingly different emphasis for the creatures from those cultures.
So far, I have completed the full 40 card pack that was inspired by some Japanese mythologies. You can find the low-res version 1st draft of the pack here. The 2nd draft is here with a little bit of image changes. I have completed the foes for the Norse and South American mythologies, and have ideas for two further flavor packs beyond that.
Edit: Norse Flavor Pack here
My plan is follow Shawn’s lead and release them all for free as PNP, but also post them on DriveThruRPG so you can get the cards physically printed if you want.
